Writing Tip for February: You’ve heard it a thousand times: Show, don’t tell. One way to do so is to use actions instead of adverbs to convey a character’s feelings. · So-so: “It’s just not fair,” she said angrily. · Better: “It’s just not fair.” She stomped her foot and turned away. · Ho-hum: “I don’t want to move,” he said sadly. · Better: “I don’t want to move.” His eyes filled with tears, and he hung his head. |
